Los Angeles-based photographer Adam Davis has returned to Cleveland as the Cleveland Print Room’s artist-in-residence, working on his Black Magic project. His goal is to create 20,000 tintype portraits of Black individuals across the country, something he’s adding to during his Cleveland stay.
On Friday September 29, he’ll host a program called Story Time, taking place a moCa Cleveland in partnership with the Cleveland Print Room. It’s described as a e-creation of the environment of his studio: “Acting simultaneously as performance, Q&A, and introduction to the long-term legacy project Davis has created called Black Magic, attendees will be encouraged to make history under one roof.”
During the event, Davis will make five portraits, tell five stories from his cross-country travels chosen by the audience, and answer five questions.
The instructions for the event say, “Please plan ahead to arrive early. Any attendees arriving 10 minutes after the program starts will not be admitted. The flow of our time together is very important and disruptions will be kept to a minimum.”
It’s free; to register go here.
