Two New Archived Artists Open Solo Shows at Artist Archives of the Western Reserve

Work by Terry Klausman

Fri 9/8 @ 5:30-8PM

This week, Artists Archives of the Western Reserve opens a pair solo shows by two archived artists. Creative Impulse feature the mixed-media assemblage work of Dale Goode; A Retrospective will showcase the career of Terry Klausman. These are their inaugural exhibitions as archived artists and the first to encompass AAWR’s newly expanded space.

Klausman began his career as a welder, creating fabricated and welder steel sculptures. Following an accident in 2011which limited his use of his right hand, he began to make intricate, semi-abstract drawings using his non-dominant left hand.  He has returned to welding since his recovery and now produces work in both mediums.

Goode has been making art for four decades, fabricating pieces of all sizes out of mostly found materials using discarded objects which he often paints over in vivid colors including gold. He’s also done two-dimensional painting, prints and collages that spring from similar impulses and interests as his sculptures. Creative Impulse will show examples of both.

Klausman will be doing an artist talk in the gallery Saturday September 16 @1-2pm; Goode will be talking and greeting visitors on Saturday October 7 @1-2pm. The shows will open with a reception on Friday September 8 and be on view through Saturday October 21.
