Ever since fans of The Rocky Horror Picture Show popularized the idea, movie screenings that encourage fans to sing along have become rife. And if that keeps people from annoying other patrons by singing along when they’re not supposed to (lookin’ at YOU, Lauren Boebert!) that’s a good thing.
Now the Akron Civic Theater is hosting a screening of the 2021 Oscar-winning Disney animated film Encanto designed specifically for singing along. There’ll be a live band playing songs such as “We don’t Talk About Bruno,” “Surface Pressure” and “Waiting on a Miracle,” and fans are encouraged to dress as their favorite character.
