The annual Skunkfest, hosted by domestic skunk rescue Skunkhaven and held in North Ridgeville’s South Central Park, draws pet skunk owners and animal lovers of all types from all over. The skunks (which are bred to be domestic and not taken from the wild) compete for King and Queen titles, in a costume contest and in races in which most need prodding by their owners — skunks are not nature racers. The event included lots of vendors with animal related gear and, as usual, a tent hosted by Avon’s Ferrets Unlimited, with ferrets available for petting.
