Fresh Fest debuted in 2019 at Rid-All Farm and Otter Park, a project that over the last decade has created a farm and recreational space out of a sweep of desolate, empty land in Cleveland’s so-called “forgotten triangle.”
Obviously, it didn’t follow up the next year due to the pandemic, but it returned in 2021 to celebrate local healthy food and culture and much more.
Fresh Fest features local food, a beer garden, dozens of vendors of all types, yoga and other wellness activities such as reiki, meditation and eergy healing, tours of the greenhouses, food demonstrations and tastings, copious kids’ activities, a basketball tournament and open court, and art-making opportunities.
Of course, there’s lots of music on a big stage, with national headliners and some talented Cleveland artists.
This year’s headliner is KRS-One, one of hip hop’s legendary rappers, along with fellow New Yorker DJ Scratch. Cleveland’s DJ Red-I of the local all-woman hip hop group FreshProduce, the red-hot R&B-infused rockers Apostle Jones, Shaky Ground comprising some of the area’s most respected reggae musicians, queer Black all-female group S.Y.S., mental health advocate Freethinker Walt, young spinner DJ Lily Jade, and the Monday Program featuring Corey Grande round out the day’s entertainment.
Admission is free. Go here for more info.
