Come Stomp Some Grapes at Chateau Hough Vineyard and Winery

Sat 9/30 @ noon-3PM

Once the grapes have been harvested, what’s the net step? Why the wine stomp, of course, crushing those grapes in the traditional way — with the feet! And Chateau Hough Vineyards and Winery is inviting people to join them for their Grape Stomp, which they describe as “an ancient Roman practice that continues in the Douro Valley of Portugal.”

Tickets include the stomp, a glass of wine and a wine glass lanyard. There’ll also be music, art activities and refreshments. But the stomp is the big thing so come prepared, they warn:

“Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting stained or dirty.
Wear pants that can be hiked up.
Stomping will be with clear plastic boots over your soft-soled shoes, socks, or barefeet
Shoes should be easy to remove.
Read and sign liability waiver.”

They add that, “Grapes stomped may be purchased for $15 (bring a wide-mouth container). Purchase amount is equivalent to what an individual stomps.”

Youth under 19 are free with a parent or guardian may stomp for free with written parental consent/liability waiver. Obviously, they don’t get the glass of wine though!
