Cleveland Photo Fest Presents Art/Noise Duo Nihil Omnia

Fri 9/22 @ 8PM

The Cleveland Photo Fest runs through the end of September at the Bostwick Art Design Initiative  — you can check out its constellation of exhibits Fridays @ 3-9pm, Saturdays @10am-5pm and Sundays @ noon-5pm.

The CPF is also offering Friday evening programming, mostly talks with the artists. This week’s program is a bit different however. It features the “sludge noiseadelic” art-noise duo of Shawn Slowburn and CPF co-founder Jim Szudy, making an experimental racket while images swirl around them. After their set, they’ve invited  anyone who’d like to participate to bring any instrument and an amp if required and join in an improvised jam, whether you make music or noise. There’s no end time for this mayhem!

And while there, check out the exhibits! They include Suber Huang’s See and Be Seen, inspired by his work in vision research; Joan Lederer’s Diary of a Congolese Asylum Seeker and His Family, based on ten months spent following the refugee family; Jon Passow’s The West: Pinhole Color Landscapes, five large-format photos of the American West; and a body of self-portraiture called Adentro (Inside) by Mexican-born photographer Jimena Horta. Jazz photographer/educator Randy Norfus has a space devoted to work by his students, while another space hosts the Volunteer Appreciation Show, with work by the many photographers who have contributed to the event’s production. Also on view is the Cleveland Open, which features photos by the community who brought their submissions to the gallery, with all submissions hung on the wall.

It’s free and open to all.
