Catch a Week of Movies at the Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival

Thu 9/14-Fri 9/22

For nine days, Black film buffs and those interested in the work of Black filmmakers can immerse themselves in that work at the 12th annual Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival whose theme this year is Afro2Futurism.

The film screenings take place at the four theaters at Shaker Square’s Atlas Cinemas, with an astonishing array of subjects: sports, hip hop, social justice, sci-fi, spirituality, history, art, music, health, animation, LGBTQ topics. The schedule features documentaries and narrative films, shorts programs and full-length features, and even a program of shorts by Heights Middle School students.

But there are other events at venues around town, including a podcast competition and opening night film & reception, both on Thursday September 14 at One Center Cleveland and a closing celebration at the Rock Hall on Friday September 22.
