It’s been almost a year since Bryan Kennard took over management of the BOP STOP, and like its former director Gabe Pollack, Kennard is also a musician. As an accomplished flutist and prolific and diverse composer/arranger, he co-leads a jazz collective called Third Law Collective, dedicated to providing a forum for new compositions; it performs monthly Thursday evenings at the BOP STOP.
A couple of his fellow leaders of that group — guitarist Dan Bruce and sax player Chris Coles — will be joining him in the Bryan Kennard Sextet for his birthday bash at — where else? — the BOP STOP. Also featuring pianist Grant Heineman, bassist Tayor Arbogast and drummer Anthony Taddeo, they’ll play some of Kennard’s compositions and arrangements.
Their performance will be followed at 10pm by the venue’s monthly jazz jam session, usually held on Friday but moved this month due to a private event.
