Thu 8/24 @ 7:30-10PM
There’s a new entertainment series happening at a new venue in town. Comedy on the Treelawn happens at the new Treelawn Social Club in the Waterloo Arts District every other Thursday, bringing an evening of stand-up comedy, music, food and drink.
Each week will feature three comedians, a host, a house band playing between acts and a brief free buffet between 7:30-8pm before the show starts at 8:10 (food is available for purchases after that along with a full bar.)
This week actor/comedian/spoken word poet Britton Grace hosts the evening, which features comedians Kee Silly, Gene Miller and the Real John King. Silly is a Clevelander who performs at clubs, private events and fundraisers and is known for “a mix of absurdity and relatable observations, often drawing on her own experiences and the quirks of everyday life.” Miller, another Clevelander, is a relative newbie, doing comedy for only three years, but he’s been nominated as Ohio’s best comic for the past two years in the Ohio Entertainment Awards. Akron’s the Real John King, on the other hand, is a comedy veteran, performing since 1984. He’s been on Showtime at the Apollo and opened for performers such as Chris Rock, Redd Foxx and Steve Harvey. He’s also a blues musician.
The house band is Rizz Duo; food is provided by Culinary Expressions. Snag tickets here.
