Slovenian Sausage Festival Returns to Kirtland for its 19th Year

Wed 9/13 @ noon-8PM

Fall is rolling in and that means it’s time for heavier, hot food — food such as Slovenian sausage. So the National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame’s 19th annual Slovenian Sausage Festival at the SNPJ Farm in Kirtland arrives just in time.

Will their be polka music as well as food? Ha — you even need to ask. “Do you know it takes 40 minutes of polka-dancing to burn up the calories in one Slovenian sausage?” says the Polka Hall of Fame’s press release. So yeah, there’ll be eight nonstop hours of music with a galaxy of noted local performers including Kathy Hlad, Don Wojtila, the Fairport Jammers, Patty C and the Guys, the Hoboes, Al Battistelli, Anthony Culkar, Ray Kovac, Ron Likovic and many more. You can even bring your own accordion and join in!

But you’re also there for sausage, Slovenian-style, made with cured, smoked pork, garlic and other seasonings. Sample each one and then vote for your favorite. The People’s Choice and Jury Awards will both be announced at 6pm. There’ll be other Slovenian-style food and rink available as well.

Tickets are $12 in advance; $15 at the gate, those 18 and under are free. For tickets, cal the Polka Hall at 216-261-FAME.
