Oberlin’s Cooper Piano Competition Finalists Perform with Cleveland Orchestra

Founded in 2010, the Thomas and Evon Cooper International Competition is dedicated to presenting an important international competitive opportunity to outstanding young musicians, alternating annually between piano and violin.

This year’s piano competition is taking place from Monday, July 31 to  Friday, August 4, 2023. Participants compete in live rounds in Warner Concert Hall at Oberlin Conservatory, Monday July 31-August 3 are free and open to the public.

Tension and excitement are in the air at Warner as young competitors from all around the world prepare to perform their best and move ahead in the competition.

However, it’s The Concerto Finals that generate the major buzz. The top three finalists will have the incomparable experience of performing with The Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Music Center on Fri 8/4 at 7:30PM. And if you thought the anxiety was high earlier in the week, that’s nothing compared to the excitement in the hall for the Finals. And for The Concerto Finals, you must secure a ticket.
