For the next show in its gallery, Heights Arts collaborated with No Exit New Music to create a show inspired by surrealism and the games and thought exercises its practitioners used to draw on the subconscious.
To create the show, titled Collaborage, the Heights Arts Exhibition Community Team formed four artist “teams,” each including a random trio of visual artists. Each teams was given a copy of A Book of Surrealist Games and worked with 12 words or phrases provided by the Heights Writes Community Team. Then the Heights Arts Music Community Team picked a dozen Northeast Ohio musical pieces, which were also randomly assigned to the artists. You can see the results at Heights Arts from August 18 through October 15. The works will be auctioned off at the end of the show.
Also on view in its Spotlight Gallery during the same period will be work by Northeast Ohio artist Gregory Johnson, which he says “is all about the exploration of the inner and touching people in a way that transcends words.”
