Meet Sculptor Barbara Stanczak at the Akron Art Museum

German-born Cleveland artist Barbara Stanczak was educated at Cincinnati’s Xavier University and Case Western Reserve University before becoming a long-time professor at the Cleveland Institute of Art where she taught from 1976-2011. No retired, the 82-year-old artist has more time for her work: Sculpture in Stone and Wood,” as her website is titled. Her abstract work, guided by the natural properties of her materials, has been exhibited extensively in northeast Ohio: currently her work is on view at the Akron Art Museum in the show Spirit & Matterin the Isroff Gallery.
