Through 9/16
Probably one of the least surprisingly announcements we’ve heard recently is that the Asian Lantern Festival, taking place at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, has been extended beyond its original closing date of Sunday August 27, through Saturday September 16.
The popular festival, now in its sixth year, brings visitors to the zoo after dark to stroll through lavish lighting displays, as well as enjoy performances and Asian cuisine. The displays, situated throughout the zoo grounds, are made up of more than 1,000 lanterns, including a 40-foot lantern, walk-through tunnels and the 150-foot Enchanted Garden Experience filled with butterflies, flowers and insects.
These are described by the zoo as “Instagrammable,” but maybe you can put the phone away and just absorb their beauty. The festival will also offer hourly acrobatic performances and an Asian Food Market.
The walk-through experience takes place Thursday-Sunday @ 6:30-10:30pm. In addition, there’s a drive-through version on certain nights. And after the event technically closes there’s one more night on Sunday September 17 exclusively for bicyclists.
