Since March, the nonprofit Cleveland Arts Prize, which had been making monetary awards to people and organizations in all areas of the arts and at all stages of their careers since the early 60s, has been hosting a series of events titled “Art Collection Tours of CLE: A Tuesday Night Series.”
Each month, participants visit one of the area’s art collections held by a local institution/organization, led by the collection’s curator, who talks about its history, its holdings and more. And each tour features work by an area artist who has won the Cleveland Arts Prize, who will join the group to talk about their work. Each evening includes a post-tour reception with wine and light refreshments.
The series comes to a close this month with a visit to University Hospitals’ Ahuja Center, led by the collection’s art curator Tom Huck. The featured artist is a well-known veteran of the local art scene, who just had another major show at HEDGE Gallery: painter Douglas Max Utter, who won the CAP in 2013.
