Vancouver ensemble Artrageous started out as a street theater group of dancers, singers and musicians in the 80s, before creating the All and Everything Theatre to do street theater, children’s theater and bunraku puppetry. After their theater and all their puppets and props were consumed in a fire, they began again as Artrageous, touring to every corner of the world. This week that corner will include Cleveland Heights when they arrive at Cain Park’s Evans Amphitheatre for a free morning show and a ticketed evening show.
Their show, which features music and dancing in a variety of genres, audience interaction and live painting, concludes with a gallery of paintings created during the show. They warn, “Come prepared to be part of the show.”
The morning show is an educational “micro performance” for kids of middle school age. Not only will they get to be involved in the performance, they’ll also have the chance to ask questions of the performers.
