Akron Pride Celebrates Its Sixth Year in a Big Way

Sat 8/26 @ 10AM-10PM

Akron Pride was surprisingly late to the party, not launching until 2017, while many smaller cities were hosting Pride celebrations. But it’s making up for lost time. As far as we can tell this one will be its sixth event (subtracting the plague year of 2020) and as in recent years, it kicks off with the Pride parade downtown on Main Street before converging on Lock 3 for the all-day/all-evening celebration.

A diverse roster of performers will be performing on two stages. The Lock 3 Main Stage entertainment starts at 10am with DJ Nick Duve. The music there goes live at 11am with Cleveland glam rockers Vanity Crash, followed by artists such as Madison Rose, Marcia X3, a drag show featuring Landon Cider, Greyson Chance, a drag show featuring Marcia Marcia Marcia and many others. Entertainment on the Equity stage, which runs from 10:45am-4pm includes Summit County Drumsing, the Millennial Theatre Project, Krown Bay, Ethan Soza and Pretty Pretty Awful. Over at Cascade Plaza, DJs will be spinning music all day.

There will, of course, be food and drink available — gotta stay fueled for this long day — and booths from local organizations. From noon-3pm the Kids’ Pride Zone will offer activities such as inflatables. And things wrap up at 10pm with that big crowd favorite — fireworks! All are welcome, of course.
