Garden Walk Cleveland, now in its 13th year, takes place rain or shine. It also took place pandemic or not, making it one of the only festivals that can legitimately say it’s in its 13th (or whatever) year with no break.
The nature of the event allowed for that to happen. Visitors grab a map from one of its information station locations, located in each of the eleven participating neighborhoods, or download one, then chart their own path to visit various private and community gardens and public green spaces. The website also features a QR code to direct you to where you want to go.
Each of the two days features walks in different neighborhoods: Fairfax, Glenville, Ohio City, Old Brooklyn, Tremont and West Park on Saturday and Broadway Slavic Village, Clifton-Baltic, Collinwood, Detroit Shoreway and Little Italy on Sunday. In 2022 the walk included some 375 garden so there’s a lot to see. Plan ahead, prioritize and take a leisurely stroll (or bike it!). At some locations, you might meet the gardener(s) and end up chatting for a while, so be flexible. The whole vibe of this event is unhurried. It’s free.
