Lakewood Art Fest Is Back with More than 175 Artists, Music, Demonstrations & Food

Sat 8/5 @10AM-6PM

The Lakewood Arts Fest is only a single day but it’s one of the most art- and activity-packed arts festivals in the area. The popular, well-attended event is now in its 46th year.

Detroit Avenue is closed from Belle to Arthur so that nearly 200 artists, including the best of northeast Ohio artists along with national artists, can set up booths to offer their paintings, prints, photographs, jewelry, ceramics, glass works, wood art, sculpture and fiber art, among other things. 2022 Best in Show winner, printmaker Paul Serrianne returns with his prints inspired by the industrial history of the rust belt. Other artists will be familiar to area art lovers, including fashion designer Valerie Mayen, whose Yellowcake Shop filled with handmade-in-American clothing, is about to move from 78th Street Studios to a larger space, street-style artist Ryan Jaenke and graphic designer George Kocar, whose cartoon-like images (and daily cat and dog drawings on Facebook), are instantly recognizable.

The festival also features live local music and other entertainment on four stages. Performers this year include Liz Bullock with Gavin Coe, singer/songwriter Meganne Stepka, the Andrew McManus Trio, Assane M’Baye Senegalese Drums, singer/songwriter Chris Allen, Brazilian-style singer/guitarist Luca Mundaca, swamp rockers Cats on Holiday, folk rock ensemble Maura Rogers and the Bellows and many more. The Beck Stage will also feature spoken word performances, improv and the Beck Center Ukulele Club. Beck Center will also be hosting an artist demonstration schedule with pottery, chalk, painting and drawing. Food will also be available on the street.

Admission is free. For more information and a full list of artists and events, go to lakewoodartsfest.org.
