CPT’s High School Theatre Program Tours Student-Written and -Performed Show

Cleveland Public Theatre’s STEP (Student Theatre Enrichment Program) is a summertime program which hires a company of teens to write, produce and perform their own theater piece, which tours local venues for free performances.

This year 20 students from seven area high schools created a 60-minute show called The Midnight Mist. “A community caught in an ancient conflict receives a message from a mysterious Mist,” says the synopsis. “On the verge of collapse, the City looks to four citizens seeking a truth that would unravel a devastating secret hidden in the stars. As midnight approaches, four divided nations must carve a path towards a united tomorrow or crumble into ruin.” It includes music and dance, spoken word and drumming.

The show will have ten family-friendly performances, kicking off at Herman Park on Thursday July 27 @ 7pm. Other performances include:

Sat 7/29, @ 3pm: Centennial Peace Plaza Cleveland Cultural Gardens

Mon 7/31 @ 1pm, Riverside Park Community Center

Mon 7/31 @ 7pm: Shrine Church of St. Stanislaus, Slavic Village

Tue 8/1 @ 7pm: Cain Park (on the greens)

Wed 8/2 @ 1pm, Outhwaite Community Center

Fri 8/4, Fri @ 4:30p: CSU Allen Rehearsal Hall, Middough Building (5th floor)

Sat 8/5 @ 7pm: Arts in August at Tremont’s Lincoln Park

Sun 8/6 @ 7pm: Cleveland Public Theatre
