Celebrate Puerto Rico at the 53rd Annual PR Festival

Sat 8/5 @ noon-10PM

Sun 8/6 @ noon-10PM

Sun 8/6 @ 11AM-noon

This is the weekend to explore the various culture that make up the Cleveland melting pot, with Slovak, Polish and Ukrainian events all taking place. One of the biggies —and one of the longest running — is the festival hosted by our fellow Americans from Puerto Rico, who comprise by far the largest group of Latinos in the city.

This year, the event, which has been going on for more than 50 years (it’s being promoted as the 53rd annual event), and taken place in a variety of venues, will be at the MetroHealth Main Campus on the near west side.

There you can take in all the manifestations of Puerto Rican culture, starting of course with food provided by the area’s many talented chefs. There’ll be local vendors of art, crafts and Puerto Rican-related items, lots of music by both local and international artist and, thanks to its host health and wellness screenings. One of the highlights is the parade, which takes place on Sunday August 6 from 11am-noon, right before the festival starts for the day. See floats and delegations representing a variety of cultural and service organizations in the community.
