Vermilion’s Festival of the Fish Remembers Woodstock with “Fishstock” Theme

Fri 6/16-Sun 6/18

With the festival season in full swing, that idyllic little town on the shore, Vermilion, is hosting its 57th annual Festival of the Fish, this time with a retro theme, nodding to the distant past — 54 years to be exact. “Fishstock” recalls the legendary 1969 Woodstock Music Festival with “3 day of peace, music & perch.”

Let’s hope they don’t get something else the original Woodstock had lots of: rain. That would certainly put a damper — heh heh — on such events as its Crazy Craft Regatta, sandcastle building competition, lighted boat parade, beach yoga, and Friday night fireworks and more. They’re even promising tie-dyed merch. And while bands like disco inferno and 1988 will be playing post-Woodstock cover material, we wouldn’t be surprised if some of the many other bands on the schedule trot out a few tunes from that era.
