Cleveland’s Contemporary Youth Orchestra gives talented teen musicians the opportunity to challenge themselves and explore new horizons by working with both contemporary composers and legacy pop acts such as Pat Benatar, Kenny Loggins and Graham Nash to prepare performances of their music.
Now they’re stretching their horizons to try something new: a partnership with the Tri-C Creative Arts Academy and Tri-C Creative Arts Department theater team to present We Will Rock You, based on the music of Queen.
They describe the production as “a quirky, eccentric and heartfelt story of outsiders…a creative cautionary tale for the cyber age. We Will Rock You follows two revolutionaries, Galileo and Scaramouche, on a quest to save rock n’ roll in a post-apocalyptic world in which there are no musical instruments and rock n’ roll has died.”
Ben Elton wrote the story and script; Brittany Bonney conducts and Emanuela Friscioni is the piano soloist. The performance takes place at the Mandel Theatre on Tri-C’s Eastern Campus. Get more information and tickets here.
