Summer in Full Swing: Updated 2023 Festival Guide

This week alone those looking for a festival-type event, with food, drinks, music and more, have half a dozen choices, not including, undoubtedly, smaller neighborhood-type events. Welcome to summer! Now things are in full swing.

In addition to festivals, free outdoor concert series are getting going this week, with Wade Oval Wednesdays in University Circle and Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s Rhythm on the River both starting (both with bands that play that easy-on-the-ears mixture of jazz, pop and soul called “smooth jazz”), and outdoor music coming back to Edgewater Park with popular local reggae group Carlos Jones and the P.L.U.S. Band. Akron’s Cascade Plaza launches “Live & Local” and Cleveland’s Public Square kicks off Gigs on the Green.

In addition, this week sees two indoor music festivals, with the Re:Sound festival (June 8-11) featuring boundary-pushing experimental music and the launch of ChamberFest Cleveland (June 14-July1), both taking place at multiple venues.

There’s lot to do all summer long, much of it free. So don’t waste these longer days: get out and get going!
