Lake View Cemetery Concerts Are Back at a Different Location

Once again, the summer concert series returns to Lake View Cemetery with three Sunday afternoon concerts this year, in June, July and August. But they’re at a new location: instead of the lawn behind Garfield Memorial, they’ll be at Daffodil Hill.

They start this week with Paul Kovac’s Big Grass Band, a group of veteran musicians playing down-home folk and bluegrass-influenced music. Bring your lawn chair and picnic basket and enjoy some free music outdoors. Rain date is July 2.

Each concert will have a slightly different flavor. On July 23, Hubb’s Groove will be offering relaxing smooth jazz sounds if you need to wind down from your daily stress and just chill. (Rain date July 30.)

Things take a different turn on August 20, when the Sammy DeLeon Latin Jazz Sextet featuring pianist Jackie Warren play some of the liveliest rhythms you’ll hear anywhere in town. You won’t be sitting in that folding chair; you’ll be on your feet dancing. Rain date in August 27. Dogs are welcome too if they’re well-behaved and leashed.
