Not everyone craves the boom boom BOOM of fireworks exploding on the Fourth of July. If you prefer to celebrate in a quieter manner and look at smaller and more intimate flashes of light, join Summit Metro Parks for its Firefly Fireworks even at the Tallmadge Meadows Area of its Munroe Falls Metro Park.

And sitting in a meadow or other quiet, dark spotlight and watching these little insects signal to their mates is a magical experience like no other. A naturalist will be there to engage visitors and share information about these “lightning bugs.” Bring your own jar and see if you can catch a few. (Enjoy their light and then let them go!) Bring your own flashlight as well.

For those who HAVE to have fireworks, there’ll be sparklers as while, while supplies last. For more information, call 330-865-8065 or go here.
