We’ve told you how important it is to vote NO in the August 8 election, a low-turnout summer election re-scheduled by the Republicans in the Ohio legislature after they banned such elections just months ago due to the cost and low turnout. But when they want more power, cost and low turnout be damned!
So they want you to agree that citizen-led constitutional amendments should be even harder to get on the ballot — it’s already really challenging — and if they make it, should be next to impossible to pass, requiring 60% of the voters who turn out. Meanwhile, if the legislature decides to put one on the ballot, it only requires 50% because you know legislators are never influenced by deep-pockets special interests — NEVER. Oh, stop mentioning former Speaker of the House Larry Householder. I’m sure he’ll be happy in prison.
Anyway, make sure you’re registered and make a plan to vote on or before August 8. Keep in mind that the GOP has also changed the ID requirements and the early voting schedule because hey, the more voters we can confuse the better, right? See the calendar at the top of this post.
