Reggae Sundays Return to the Music Box for a Summer-Long Run

Sun 6/4 @ 4-7:30PM

Nothing meshes quite as well as balmy summer weather and the languid sounds of reggae music. That’s undoubtedly why the Music Box Supper Club keeps bringing back its Reggae Sundays year after year, raking place every Sunday afternoon/early evening from June through early September.

They kick off (and close on September 3) with one of the area’s most beloved reggae groups, Carlos Jones & the P.L.U.S. Band, whose presence on a summer concert series is virtually required. (They’ll be kicking off the return of Cleveland Metroparks’ concerts at Edgewater Park on Thursday June 8 and playing their usual pre-July 4 slot at Wade Oval Wednesdays on June 26.)

Throughout the summer, you can check out a bunch of other local and regional reggae acts (it’s surprising how deep the reggae talent pool is here). They include — from northeast Ohio — Umojah Nation, Jah Messengers, Ghani & the No Bad Daze Band, Sun Shade, Ras Khalifa and Shakey Ground, as well as The Ark Band and The Flex Crew, both from Columbus; Cincinnati’s Elementee Livity Project; Toronto’s Erie, Pa’s One World Tribe; and Lazo & Exodus with their Bob Marley tribute.

It’s an indoor/outdoor event. The band will play on the indoor stage, while the doors will be open to the deck to hang out on and groove to the music. And there’ll be an outdoor tiki bar with “island cocktail specials.” There’s no cover charge so come bask in the summer vibes.

There’s a complete schedule of Reggae Sundays here.
