Near West Theatre’s Feel the Beat Benefit Celebrates the ’80s

Sat 5/20 @ 6:30-10:30PM

Near West Theatre just finished the run of its latest production Head Over Heels, built around the music of the Go-Go’s and its vocalist Belinda Carlisle. So after all those renditions of “We Got the Beat,” they’re still Feelin’ the Beat, the title of their upcoming annual benefit.

The theme, of course, is the ’80s, and if you can still do that busy, complicated, sprayed-to-death ’80s hair, good for you! Or find a tube skirt, lace leggings, plastic bracelets and a cheap rosary ala Madonna. Layer on the thrift store clothes like Cyndi Lauper. Dress all in purple and pay tribute to Prince, or sew sequins on a single glove to honor Michael Jackson. Let your imagination run wild!

Local BIPOC restaurateurs will be providing the food; you provide the look and attitude. Get your tickets here to support Near West Theatre’s mission of producing theater that brings together people of all ages, races, ethnicities, gender and sexual identities, socio-economic background and theater experience to share their experiences and build bridges.
