Geauga County Shelter Hosts Book Launch for “The Cartoons of Rescue Village”

Tue 5/9 @ 6-8PM

For two decades Chagrin Falls-based cartoonist Jenny Campbell, artist for the nationally syndicated “Flo and Friends” comic strip, has been creating the adorable drawings that adorn the website and promotion for the Geauga County Humane Society’s Rescue Village no-kill shelter in Novelty. The shelter not only takes in, cares for and rehomes cats and dogs and small animals, it also houses neglected farm animals, and Campbell captures them all.

She’s now released a book called The Cartoons of Rescue Village: Twenty Years of Love and Lifesaving Through the Eyes of Cartoonist Jenny Campbell, available on May 9. It tells the story of the work Rescue Village does in saving and finding good homes for animals. We’re told that “The Cartoons of Rescue Village is a must-have book for anyone interested in animal rescue, the good deed of adopting shelter animals, and a view into what animals might think as they experience homelessness, life in a shelter, and the joy of a new couch to destroy.”

To celebrate the release, she’ll be doing a meet-and-greet talk and book signing at — where else? — Rescue Village. Watch out. I once went there with a friend looking to adopt; I had no intention of doing so. I came home with my Siamese cat Venus who lived with me for 15 years.

To register to attend the free event, e-mail rsvp@rescuevillage.org. All proceeds from book sales go to the work of Rescue Village.
