Bike Cleveland’s Ride of Silence Recalls Cyclists Killed or Injured on the Roads

Wed 5/17 @ 6:30-8PM

The annual Ride of Silence is an international event honored by bicyclists everywhere to remember those fellow cyclists who were injured or killed on the roads.

It’s in keeping with Bike Cleveland’s mission to advocate for public roads that are safer for everyone and not just designed for cars. So they’re joining with their compatriots around the world for this slow-paced, reflective ride that will launch from two locations: Willard Park downtown by the Free Stamp and John Carroll University next to the Dolan Science Center. Each is a five-mile (one way) ride on public streets, both ending up at University Hospital for a short presentation where anyone is free to share their own stories about traffic violence.

The Cleveland Police Bike division will be escorting the ride from Public Square; the Heights Bicycle Coalition will be accompanying the riders from University Heights. Riders may then find their way back; Bike Cleveland says groups tend to form for the return rides.
