Akron’s Curated Storefronts Holds Benefit Celebrating City’s Past and Future

Sat 5/20 @ 6-10PM

The Curated Storefront program aims to liven up downtown Akron by filling empty storefronts with local art. Now it’s celebrating the transformation of the historical Link building at 172 South Main Street: a former dentist office, meat market and shoe store, among other things, as it transitions to become the future home of the Akron History Center.

That’s where it will host this year’s “pARTy,” dubbed “Leveling Up,” to support its work. There’ll be music by Ed and Laurie Michelle Caner of the roots music ensemble Hey Mavis and Jeri Sapronetti from Big Pop, food provided by El Patron and Sweet Mary’s Bakery, an appearance by drag artist and historian Dr. Lady J and live artmaking.

Guests are invited to come dressed as something from Akron’s past, present or future if they choose — go easy on the DEVO costumes, OK? Get tickets here.
