Kent Native Singer/Songwriter Marilyn DeFrange Plays With Old Friends at Jilly’s

Thu 4/27 @ 7:30PM

Kent native Marilyn DeFrange has been singing and writing songs for decades, and has a musical rack record going back to Kent bands such as Baby Sirloin. She’s got eclectic tastes and mentions among her influences reggae, country, jazz, rock & R&B.

She’s currently performing with a quartet that, in addition to herself , features three seasoned northeast Ohio musicians. Drummer Rod Reisman and bassist/guitarist Fred Tribuzzo were both members of Baby Sirloin and played with numerous other bands. Both have played with Kent’s Numbers Band and Reisman is well known in the local reggae scene from his decades with First Light, Outlaws I & I and now Shaky Ground. (he also played very briefly with DEVO in its early days.)  They’ve also been joined by another (current) member of the Numbers Band: its longtime sax & keyboard player Terry Hynde.

The ensemble will be making its debut this week at Jilly’s Music Room in Akron; admission is free.
