Cleveland Museum of Art’s MIX Celebrates Egyptomania

Fri 4/7 @ 6-10PM

The monthly Cleveland Museum of Art MIX party is back, and this month it celebrates the opening of a new show at the museum, Egyptomania: Fashion’s Conflicted Obsession.

That show explores the influence of ancient Egypt on fashion, often funneled through popular culture interpretations. Currently on view in the textile and Egyptian galleries, the show brings together contemporary designers’ interpretations of Egyptian style with real, historical Egyptian pieces from the museum collection.

All galleries will be open during MIX so that visitors can see that show as well as its current special exhibition, The Tudors: Art and Majesty in Renaissance England. Meanwhile, in the Ames Family Atrium, dancers can get down to the music of Beauty Slap and DJ Hama playing sets of North African, Middle Eastern and Arabic inspired beats. Food, cocktails, beer and wine will be available for purchase.
