There are few sports figures of more interest to northeast Ohioans than LeBron James. People here have been obsessively following his career since he was a high school basketball standout at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in his hometown of Akron and after graduation going on to the NBA to almost immediately became one of its biggest stars and most successful players. Those of us who have zero interest in professional sports of any kind have admired his passion for reaching back and lifting up kids in his hometown with projects such as his I Promise School, a public school created in partnership with the Akron School District to give students who might otherwise fall through the cracks (and their families) wraparound services to help them succeed.
So certainly people in this area should snap up sportswriter Jeff Benedict newest book titled simply LeBron. The author spent three years doing more than 200 interviews, watching video footage and combing through thousands of pages of documents to write what’s claimed to be the definitive biography of ho has more than fulfilled the early predictions made for his greatness.
