Join the Hepcats at a Swing Dance in Chagrin Falls

Sat 4/1 @ 8PM

The great thing about the Bainbridge swing dances — Ok, there are a LOT of great things — but one that stands out is the chance to hear some really high-energy, feet-moving music that delves into a variety of genres, as long as it’s danceable.

The month, seven-piece Hepcat Revival from Perrysburg will be taking the stage to play swing, jump blues and other sounds that fed into the creation of rock & roll back in the late 40s ad early 50s: artists such as Cab Calloway, Louis Jordan and Big Joe Turner. Their repertoire features hits of that era and their own tunes fed by those sounds.

The other great things? These dances are social events for all: all ages, families, experienced dancers and those who think they have two right feet (I’m a southpaw.)

Doors open at 7:30 for you to get acclimated and do some stretches, and then at 8pm there’s a dance class, so if you’ve never one this before, you can learn the steps — and there’ll most likely be some regulars there to help you out. Music starts at 9 and runs to 11pm. And don’t worry about coming alone: swing dances are designed for partner changing so you get to meet a lot of people and make some new friends.

The dances take place on the first Saturday of each month at the Family Life Center (16349 Chillicothe Road, Chagrin Falls. Admission is $15, $10 per child or $40 per family. No registration is required. Get more information here.
