Jazz Trumpeter Dominick Farinacci & His Star Tri-C Students Play at the BOP STOP

Sun 4/2 @ 7PM

While jazz trumpet player Dominick Farinacci’s career has taken him around the world since he left Cleveland to go to school at New York’s Juilliard School (where he was a member of the first jazz music class, on the recommendation of Wynton Marsalis), he’s never forgotten his roots as a member of the Tri-C High School Jazz All-Stars. He’s returns often, not only to play, but to mentor young musicians in workshops, camps and classes such as the Tri-C JazzFest Academy program which he directs. When the kids perform at JazzFest you’ll find him at the side of the stage, offering encouragement and sometimes playing along.

He’s been doing some active mentoring lately, with performances by Dominick Farinacci & Spirit of the Groove. The latter is a group of young musicians from area high schools who have committed to full-time pursuit of jazz in college, part of an invitational mentorship program that blends classroom work with live playing experience. Come check out one of Cleveland’s biggest jazz exports and its potential future stars at the BOP STOP.
