Help Make Art From Trash With Recycle Artist Ron Shelton at Valley Art Center

Sat 3/18 @ 2-4PM

Northeast Ohio artists Ron Shelton is known for turning trash into art — literally creating his sculptures and installations from detergent packages, cat litter jugs and other items typically tossed away and clogging landfills.

Appropriately, Shelton has joined with the Valley Art Center in Chagrin Falls for a community workshop and public art installation to celebrate World Art Day and Earth Day, spotlighting the intersection of art and the environment.

The workshop takes place on Saturday March 18, and all ages and skill levels are invited to join Shelton to make pieces for the finished installation and learn about the lifespan of plastic in the environment from Dr. Cathi Lehn of the Cleveland Mayor’s Office of Sustainability. ‘

Shelton’s piece will feature a wasp nest pattern made from recycled plastic, which will be on view April 15-22, then taken down on Earth Day, Saturday April 22, and recycled to be part of Valley Art Center’s September show Contemporary Debris.
