Hear Me Roar in Gordon Square Offers Storytelling, Music, Food, Vendors & More

Sat 3/11 @ 11AM-5PM

For the second year, Oceanne, a jewelry business and boutique in Gordon Square, is hosting its Hear Me Roar event, taking place at Gordon Green.

The event theme is The Untold Stories of Our Community, which it will manifest in the sharing of stories, interactive experiences, art and food. The lineup of speakers includes activist Joan Southgate, who after retiring as a social worker, walked more than 500 miles through Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Canada to call attention to the former slaves who escaped via the Underground Railroad. Others features include social worker/author Jan Thorpe; entrepreneur Jackie Wachter, co-founder of Fount leather goods; lead instructor of CycleFly Maggie Ruper and judo world champion Emmanuelle Payet.

There’ll be opportunities for interactive experiences with the speakers, French food and cocktail, coffee by Ready Set Coffee, live music by MixedFeelings216, and the chance to shop local vendors at the vendor marketplace. Tickets range from free to shop the marketplace to $125 for the full experience. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Refugee Response.
