Concert Pays Tribute to Trio of Local Blues Legends

Sun 3/12 @ 7PM

The latest in a long-running series of tribute to Cleveland musicians, hosted by area musician Charlie Wiener, pays homage to a trio of players who’ve been part of the local blues scene for 50 years: pianist/vocalist Jimmy Ley, and guitarists Alan Greene and Butch Armstrong.

While Ley performed mainly as frontman in his own band, both Greene and Armstrong have played with many different ensembles. Armstrong (aka Joey San Filippo) has performed with the Armstrong-Bearcat Band for more than three decades, while Greene’s career has encompassed the Mr. Stress Blues Band, Jonah Koslen’s Breathless, Donnie Iris’s Cruisers and The Innocent (which also featured Trent Reznor), as well as his own Alan Greene Band.

The primarily seated general admission show at the Beachland Ballroom will feature musical contributions from Charlie Christopherson, Colin Dussault, Bob Frank, David Krauss, Chip Fitzgerald and Cary Mathews, Kristine Jackson, Alex Bevan, Austin Walkin’ Cane, and Anthony Lovano’s Supernatural Band featuring Tim Matson.

Tickets are $20; get them here.
