Wed 3/1-Sun 3/5
Once again, the Short. Sweet. Film Fest is back, this time at the Atlas Cinemas at Shaker Square, for its 12th iteration
The event is a feast for film lovers, five days of immersion into short films (under 40 minutes) of all types, with more than 200 scheduled for screening, from 18 countries — and more than half of them from northeast Ohio. It’s one of those things where if you don’t like a certain film, you might fall in love with the next one.
Wednesday through Friday, doors open at 6pm with films starting at 7pm, followed by Q&As with filmmakers. Thursday focuses on student films, while Friday’s program is dedicated to local filmmakers and LGBTQ-oriented films.
Saturday, get up early, because the doors open at 10:30 for a full day of films running from 11am-11pm. And what a day! Films include the ever-popular horror genre, virtual reality, comedy, animation, drama, music videos and experimental works. Things wrap up on Sunday with another long day. Doors are at 10:30; films run from 11am-11pm, with a local filmmaker’s matinee, documentary films and “Best of the Fest.”
Food and drinks will be available at the lobby concessions — and you’re going to need them. For more info and tickets, go to shortsweetfilmfest.com.
