Kurentovanje Festival Looking for Volunteers

Clevelanders love their big outdoor festivals, which is why they start happening in February (see our festivals preview in this issue). But did you ever wonder what it would be like to be PART of a festival, not just an attendee?

Kurentovanje Cleveland, the Slovenian festival that celebrates the (eventual) coming of spring, is offering you that opportunity as a volunteer — and it’s relatively painless. All you have to do is contribute two measly hours. They’re looking for bartenders (must be 21), cashiers, people to do merch and dessert sales (can be younger but must not eat all the desserts!), to work in the children’s village and do clean-up.

Best of all, you GET something in return (other than the fun of being an insider at a great event): $10 in “kurent cash” to use on drinks and merch. Go here to sign up. And be sure to learn how to pronounce “Kurentovanje.” It’s not as hard as you think and the old-timers will be glad to teach you.
