The DayGloSho, featuring work by area artists made with environmentally friendly paint donated by the Cleveland-based DayGlo paint company, returns to Waterloo Arts this week to celebrate its 10th year.
The annual show DayFloSho, featuring work by area artists made with environmentally friendly paint donated by the Cleveland-based DayGlo paint company, launched in 2012 at Doubting Thomas Gallery in Tremont before moving east to install itself at Waterloo Arts in North Collinwood in 2015.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary milestone as well as the 20th anniversary of Waterloo Arts, they’ve asked 25 artists to create party-inspired works made with DayGlo paint on display in a black-lit gallery so the works pop in 3D.
The show runs through the end of January, but this Friday you can come see it at a special black-light “No-Skates Free Skate” party, hosted by Dance Dance Party Party Cleveland (DDPPCle), a group that puts in dance parties in various locations.
They say that DayGloSho’s birthday theme reminded them of the roller skating parties of their youth, so they’ll be playing roller skating music videos, popular roller rink songs, and offering DayGlo party favors. No skates, but bring your dancing shoes or socks.
