Last weekend the Standing Rock International Short Festival celebrated its 20h anniversary with a program that featured the “best of” its previous 19 years.
This weekend it presents the 20th annual festival and competition, also taking place at the Kent Stage. Special guest/featured artist is Cleveland filmmaker Robin Fiona, winner of last year’s People’s Choice Award for her film “Meteor,” who works mostly in animation. She’ll screen that film and some new work and take questions from the audience. That will cap an evening featuring 20 other short films, all under 14 minutes in length, from around the world as well as northeast Ohio. The films generally represent a variety of genres and styles, which could range from experimental and abstract, to documentaries, to narrative stories, to music videos.
Audience members will vote on the 2023 People’s Choice Award winner, who gets a cash prize.
Tickets are $10, $5 for students and seniors.
