See the “Best of the Best” of 20 Years of the International Short Film Festival

Sat 1/21 @ 8PM

Kent’s Standing Rock Cultural Arts is holding its 20th annual celebration of short films in all permutations, from animation to music videos to short narratives to documentaries to experimental films to anything else a filmmaker can fit into 15 minutes or less, submitted by artists from all over the world. Calling itself “The Best of the Best International Short Film Fest,” it will show the People’s Choice Award winners from 2004-2022. They include Cleveland-based indie filmmaker/visual artist Robin Fiona’s “Meteor,” last year’s People’s Choice Award winner, followed by a Q&A with Fiona.

While half of the 20 films to be screened (ranging from just under two minutes to just over 10) come from Ohio filmmakers, there are also films from New York City, Detroit, North Carolina, Canada, Austria, France, The Netherlands, Iran, Singapore and Japan. Once you watch all the films, you can vote on your favorite of the favorites. There’s a cash prize for the “Best of the Best.”

It takes place at the Kent Stage, around the corner from Standing Rock’s North Water Street Gallery. Admission is $10, $5 for students and seniors. You can get tickets at the door or online at kentstage.org.
