Meeting on Waterloo Looks at Ideas for “Calming” Streets

Tue 2/7 @ 6-7:30PM

“Calming streets” involves making streets safer for everyone through the creation of infrastructure that slows down traffic. And that’s something definitely needed on the short strip of North Collinwood’s Waterloo Road called the Waterloo Arts District, where Six Shooters Coffee had twice had a vehicle go through its front window (at two different locations!) At least, no one was hurt. This despite a 25mph speed limit on that strip.

The neighbors and businesses in the area are trying to tackle the problem, so they’ll be hosting a meeting at Waterloo Arts on the corner of Waterloo and East 156th Street. Come for tacos and conversation about improving bicycle and pedestrian — and storefront! — safety. Come to share your ideas and learn from others. Come even if you’re not in this neighborhood, but think your neighborhood could benefit from safer streets.
