The “alternative drag show” GlamGore, which takes place every month at the Grog Shop, pushes the boundaries of what drag can do and be. As GlamGore’s creator, drag artist Anhedonia Delight, said of one of the previous show, “Expect the weird, the strange, and the unusual.” That pretty much sums up them all.
January’s theme is “Emo vs. Scene Smackdown,” “where Myspace, black eyeliner, and Hot Topic are your best friends.”
“Put on your finest pair of brightly colored skinny jeans and a band tee, we are throwing a show for the ages,” she promises. “This special GlamGore celebrates the angsty journeys a lot of you had and personifies them with brightly colored wristbands, wild hair choices, and all of your favorite moody and pop punk style music guaranteed to remind you of Warped Tour.”
She’s put together a great lineup too, as always bringing in performers new to the area. There’s Akron’s Sarah Tonin, Cleveland’s Stella Damiana, and Columbus performers Manny Nuff and Tayanna F. Sins, plus two special guests: Cassandra Kendall (Lúc Ami) from Chicago and Onyx Kween from Providence Rhode Island. Once again, DJ Zoe Renee Lapin will be spin tunes.
VIP tickets include reserved seating, a meet-and-greet with the performers, photo ops, and a free cocktail or soda. For both VIP and regular tickets, go here.
