Classical guitarist René Izquierdo hails from Havana, Cuba, where his mother was a dancer with the Cuban Ballet. He’s also an avid educator who says, “My purpose as an artist is to offer a musical experience that will inspire and help us understand what it is we yearn for, so that the music will reveal the inner feelings where words cannot.”
He tours extensively, performing solo, with chamber ensembles and as a soloist with orchestras, equally passionate about the existing repertoire for the instrument, more obscure repertoire and world premieres of new compositions.
When comes to Cleveland to perform at Shaker Heights’ Plymouth Church as the guest of the Cleveland Classical Music Society, his program will range from the 18th century to work by living composers. Get more information and tickets here.
