Cleveland Museum of Natural History Reduces Admission Prices

If you scroll down to Wednesday January 4, you’ll see that we’re promoting the four adorable otters who live at the Perkins Wildlife Center at Cleveland Museum of Natural History. Few things are more fun than watching otters cavort.

But the Perkins Wildlife Center has much, much more, including birds of all types, bobcats, a red fox — and now, a newly acquired baby possum name Zeke! He’s just five months old so you can watch him grow up.

But now, you can do so for much less money. CMNH has just announced that they’ve reduced general admission prices to $10 for adults and $7 for children, college students and seniors. Two and under are free and it’s never too soon to start introducing them to cute animals. Hi, otters!

That includes admission to the Smead Discovery Center, the just-reopened Shafran Planetarium, the 3D movies in the Murch Auditorium, the Corning Gallery showing work from the museum’s fine arts collection, and of course the Perkins Wildlife Center & Woods Garden.

In December, the museum debuted the first phase of its transformation project, so there’s a lot of new things to see and old things that have been freshened and upgraded.

“The Museum has adjusted its pricing in recognition of the fact that much work has been accomplished this year, and there is still more to be done,” they say in a press release. “While the Museum of the future is in progress, some Museum exhibits are undergoing necessary restoration and updates to reflect the latest scientific research.” That means there are some popular exhibits you WON’T see, such as Balto the sled dog, Lucy the human ancestor, the Wade Gallery of Gems & Jewels, and all dinosaur and prehistoric animal mounts in the Kirtland Hall of Prehistoric Life. But there’s a 3D dinosaur movie!

All tickets must be reserved in advance; you can call 216-231-4600 to do so.  The free Sunday admission for Cleveland and East Cleveland residents, and the program letting SNAP recipients buy up to four ticket for $1 apiece, are still in effect, as are the discounted admission for educators, first responders, and active members and veterans of the United States military.
